gotta chuckle at myself - watching The Biggest Loser and eating chips! :) I can tell myself that it's a reward for running tonight - but really, I should get my healthy eating back on track!
talk about muddy runners! we have had 6 days of rain so the roads are horrible! yesterday was a bad run - I felt good physically but the MUCK on the roads just made me cranky! Odie was also filthy - I guess I should focus on the positive that I ran 4k and felt good. :) I think I need to start running the whole thing - I still walk some, not a lot but I could probably push through.
today was scheduled to be a 4.82K run but I ended up doing 5.4K ... kept to the dry roads this time so my runners and my dog were happier! tomorrow is a 7.24 then Sat is 9.65 ... which doesn't intimidate me that much, as I was able to do over 9K last week.
when i tell people i am training to run a 10K, so many people say "wow that's awesome!" or "that's a big thing" ... it's funny b/c I really don't think it is. maybe i need to be prouder of what i'm accomplishing - to give myself credit for doing something. i just keep thinking that anyone could do it, if they wanted to! :)

been awhile since i've posted on here! since that time, i've completed the CIBC Run for the Cure 5k run - raising $820 towards breast cancer research. i am always so impressed with how generous my community is! Getting that 5k done made me think about the goal of running a 10k by my 32nd birthday - which is November 3rd. I decided to give it a whirl and have completed 2 weeks of this program.
Saturdays are my long runs and both have been very interesting so far! Last Saturday was an unseasonably warm day - but SUPER windy! We spent the day at Charles Island celebrating my sister Heather & my niece Isabella's birthdays. Didn't get home until 5ish - had another birthday do at 7:30. I was scheduled to run 8km and was almost deterred by the wind gusts of 60km! Pushed through and got it done in 56 minutes. i'm pretty consistent with the 7 min/km.
Today - the 2nd Saturday - was an 8.85km run. it's been a gorgeous fall so far, but today marked the first of many days of rain! After a leisurely AM - great sleep in 'til 1130! - got going around 3pm. The run into town was not so great - big winds, stinging rain - but getting home was a lot better. Felt great - with the exception of David Wynne road - yikes! Good tunes kept me going - and I didn't even get to my latest fave by Beyonce! Ended up running 9.16km at a pace of 6:5-something .. yay me! definitely christened my new shoes ... i guess that's what runners are supposed to look like anyways!
